Fundraising commenced in Autumn 2017. A sub-committee of the Parish Council was formed to carry out the arrangements for gathering funds for the project, organising training, planning where to site the machines and purchasing the equipment. The project was led by Sue and Dave who had a lot of help and support from many others in the village.

The defibrillators were installed in May 2018. By then, many members of the village had attended one of the training sessions held in the Village Hall. These sessions were provided by EMAS paramedics who demonstrated how to use the machines and how to correctly perform CPR.

Everyone in the village was invited to donate to the project, if they wished. County Councillor David Taylor started the fund off with a donation of £400 from AVBC community funds and this was matched by a further £400 from KLPC. In total, around £6500 was raised which meant that 5 machines and cabinets could be purchased.

In order to cover as much of the village as possible, the following locations were chosen:

  1. The telephone kiosk on The Common (Moor Lane – DE6 4LQ)
  1. Behind the telephone kiosk at the junction of Moor Lane and the A52
  1. The front of the Village Hall (Church Lane -DE6 4NG )
  1. The front wall of Impala's office/showroom (A52 - DE6 4NJ )
  1. The outside wall of Meynell Langley Gardens pay office (DE6 4NT)

If you have any questions about the defibrillators, please contact The Clerk to the Parish Council who can put you in touch with Sue.
